Regaining health in 2017

to guatemala or bust

Taking a year off in 2016 allowed us to have fun and focus on other things than Payton's health. We did not realize how much we were going to need a year of fun!  After visiting the Mayo clinic, Payton had her life back- however, 2017 threw her another curveball.  Deciding to kick off the year with fundraising for a mission trip to Guatemala, we were excited she was healthy enough to travel abroad.  However, in April, Payton started feeling poorly.  It took the doctors months to discover what was going on.

it was a bust!

After months of doctors appointments and testing, the doctors decided that it would be best for Payton to stay in the United States, so instead of heading to Guatemala- she headed to Houston to help the Hurricane Harvey flood victims.  She put her pain aside to help others for a few days.  Once she returned, the doctors went back to the drawing boards to try to discover what was causing Payton's symptoms.  Finally we were lead to the right place and the doctors discovered that Payton had an issue with her bile duct that required a procedure.

making the best of it!

Unfortunately the procedure caused pancreatitis so Payton was stuck in the hospital for over a week, but she made the best of it.  Somehow God granted her the strength and courage to laugh and to make others laugh while in the hospital and when recovering.
So needless to say, this was another challenging year, but we made it through!  We are so thankful for your continued support, without it, we would not make it through and neither would the kids at Mary Bridge.

2018 is going to be great- it is a year for new beginnings!!
